Beneficiaries

Every year V-Day Humboldt works with the community to select a beneficiary for our events. Criteria includes helping women and girls in the Humboldt area by preventing violence and encouraging healing and empowerment. Our curent and previous beneficiaries include:

2016

RAVEN Project

The RAVEN Project is a youth-led street outreach program through Redwood Community Action Agency’s Youth Service Bureau.

 

The Mission of the RAVEN Project is to:

  • Improve the mental and physical well-being of youth

  • Provide basic survival supplies to youth

  • Create a network of resources and referrals for youth

  • Support and advocate youth in need

  • Provide positive role models

  • And employ the at-risk youth within the area of Humboldt County!

2015

North Star Quest Camp

​

North Star Quest Camp is a 5 day overnight camp for girls in 6th-8th grade. It's a time for girls to discover themselves, encouraging empowerment, strength, and a sense of community. Workshops and activities for this year are still in the works. Some things they've done before: Belly dancing, songwriting, yoga, self defense, clowning, healthy relationships, messages of the "media," women's health, poetry, trust games, nutrition, mask making, and fun surprises.

A grass roots, local non-profit organization offering services for healing from trauma.

 

"Our mission is to provide long term, integrated healing services in a safe, empowering environment for any woman who has experienced trauma."

Six Rivers Planned Parenthood

 

We are a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.

2013

Women's Crisis Center of Southern Humboldt

 

WISH is a non-profit community-based emergency shelter operating in rural southern Humboldt. We aid and empower women and their children in crisis and/or victims of domestic violence. WISH provides a (community supported) 24-hour crisis line, housing, education about the prevention of family violence, a complete referral service, and more.
